A voice phone call (no charge) is required to facilitate download
Our satellite provider (MSV) has a requirement for every satellite phone to place a voice call in order to simplify a new frequency download to each of our satellite phones. If you have not placed a regular voice call since November 30, 2004, please turn on your satellite phone and call *678. You will hear a recorded message and your satellite phone will receive updated frequency information. This is a free call. For those of you who use Dispatch Radio only, you will simply have to initiate Talk Group activity with the regular PTT handset and this will also download the new frequencies.
If your satellite phone does not receive the updated frequencies it may not work after February 28, 2005. If you have made a regular voice call since November 30, 2004, your satellite phone has been automatically updated.
Customers with suspended service should dial "611" from their satellite phone (this will connect you with MSV's customer service center). Just tell the customer service representative who answers the phone that you are "updating the frequencies for your satellite phone" and end the call. Your phone will be updated with the new frequencies.
